Zimfest was established in 2001 by a group of Zimbabweans based in the
UK looking to showcase local talent and have a general get together to celebrate the times everyone has had in Zimbabwe. Zimfest has eventually worked its way to America and finally here to Australia, with festivals being held in Brisbane and Perth. Zimfest is all about raising money for a good cause, whilst having a “taste of home” and a good party. We are hoping to build Zimfest up over the coming years to make it a world renowned, and hugely anticipated annual event.
The 2008 Perth Zimfest was the first zimfest held in Perth, after a good few years of everyone procrastinating weather or not to get off their butts to organise it. Once it eventually got off the ground, it was decided by the organisers of both the Brisbane and Perth zimfests to join under one hat and create Zimfest (Australia), which has now been patented, trademarked and copyrighted within the whole of Australia.
As a result of this, as well as zimfest's fast growing reputation, we are looking to exapnd within the next couple of years to holding events in every major Australian city. Watch this space!
